FOUR TOP HONOURS IN 2008 FLEXIBLE PACKAGING ACHIIEVEMENT AWARDS

Alcan Packaging, a business unit of Rio Tinto Alcan, is pleased to announce that it received four top honours in the 2008 Flexible Packaging Achievement Awards, garnering industry recognition for its innovative products in the following categories:

• Gold award for Printing Achievement, for Perdue Bourbon Chicken
• Gold award for Packaging Excellence, for Sugart iTea Wand
• Silver award for Packaging Excellence, for Kraft Balance Organic
• Silver award for Printing Achievement, for Dannon Light & Fit 0% Plus Nonfat Yogurt

Sponsored by the Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) in the United States, the Awards celebrate outstanding advancements in materials, design, printing and production that offer significant flexible packaging solutions. The awards were given out at the Flexible Packaging Achievement Awards Dinner on March 5, 2008, in Orlando, Florida at the FPA's annual meeting.

	Perdue Bourbon Chicken Stand-Up Pouch: Alcan Packaging was cited for taking flexographic print quality to new levels in this consumer package. Through unique ink sequencing that utilizes both PMS and process colour, the pouch gains attention with photo-quality food imagery and precise brand colour recognition.
	Sugart iTea Wand: Taking cues from consumer trends, Alcan Packaging created a next-generation tea delivery system that offers teaspoon-free convenience and on-the-go portability. The unique wand features a built-in filtering process that precisely releases flavour while inhibiting bitterness.
	Kraft Balance Organic: To enrich the brand experience, a transparent structure shows off the natural wholesomeness of the snack bar’s hearty ingredients. In addition, Alcan Packaging’s proprietary film incorporates high-barrier properties, a cold-seal release system and dynamic brand graphics to deliver on its customer’s demands.
	Dannon Light & Fit 0% Plus Nonfat Yogurt: To promote the product’s enhanced reformulation, Alcan Packaging’s OPS in-mold label features high gloss and graphic quality, as well as a unique see-through background. The effect provides appetite appeal, while visually highlighting the product’s improved fruit content.
