BENEFIT FROM ALCAN PACKAGING'S 20 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN BARRIER MEASUREMENTS

Alcan Packaging Neuhausen opens its doors for outside companies or institutes, which can now benefit from more than 20 years experience in permeability measurements. The air conditioned laboratory, which works according to ISO9001:2008, is excellent equipped with a huge number of different Mocon ® test instruments for water vapor, oxygen and carbon dioxide barrier testing's (Oxygen- ( OTR or OXTR ), Water Vapour- ( WVTR or MVTR ) and CO₂- (CO₂TR) Permeation or Transmission).

In detail the laboratory has 26 test stations for measuring the oxygen transmission rate (OTR) of flat samples (films, laminates coated papers, etc.) or packages as bottles, blisters, pouches, cups, trays, cans, etc.. Test temperature and relative humidity of the test gas and the carrier gas can be adjusted. The samples are measured according to ASTM D-3985 and normally are double-tested to ensure reproducibility.

In addition 18 test stations for testing the water vapor transmission rate are available, carrying out measurements according to ASTM D-1249.

Finally two test stations for CO₂-Permeability complete the range of possible services.
