Alcan Packaging - a business unit of Rio Tinto Alcan - concluded the first edition of its Alcan Packaging University (APU) seminar to be held in France. The session was held on 22 and 23 January 2009 at the Cité des sciences et de l'industrie in Paris following the Pharmapack trade fair, which featured a booth from Alcan Packaging Pharma Flexibles, Glass and Emerging Markets.
The APU seminar focused on the current challenges facing the pharmaceutical market and on developing innovative projects in partnership with Alcan Packaging customers, who were delighted to learn more about manufacturing processes, innovation, and selected products such as Formpack® and integrated moisture barrier desiccant.
The Eco ChallengeTM game, Alcan Packaging's tool for increasing awareness of sustainable development as per its commitments, was also presented and sparked very positive feedback.
"We feel that a truly innovative company acts like a university, creating a worldwide knowledge sharing network. Similar to universities, seminars are places where experts come together to pursue innovation," said Lionel Lob, President, Pharma Flexibles, Glass and Emerging Markets, Alcan Packaging.
Launched in Europe in 2006, the APU seminar has grown into a highly appreciated forum for training and sharing of expertise among Alcan Packaging customers. The French edition will be followed in 2009 by additional APU seminars in Germany on 17 and 18 March, as well as the United States, India and China later in the year.
