Alcan Packaging, a division of Rio Tinto Alcan, announces that its chief growth and innovation officer, Michael Rubenstein, has been named by PrintAction Magazine as one of Canada's Most Influential People in Graphic Communications. Now in its sixth year, the Top 50 ranking identifies those individuals considered to be the industry leaders that are shaping the future direction of graphic communications in Canada.

michael rubenstein.jpg"I am honoured to be named to this list," said Mr. Rubenstein. "What is most important is that this nomination recognizes Alcan Packaging's effort to deliver packaging that goes beyond its traditional role to provide innovative solutions and value to our customers," he added.

The Top 50 Most Influential People in Graphic Communications is an annual ranking conducted by PrintAction Magazine, based on five equally weighted criteria chosen to reflect the current patterns of business: Print, Digital, Domestic, International and Environment.  Individuals seen as influential individuals in the field of graphic communications are identified by industry leaders, and then evaluated by the magazine according to their activities in each of these five areas.

Michael Rubenstein was named Alcan Packaging's chief growth and innovation officer last April. This unit is dedicated to creating sustainable value through innovation, customer partnerships and new growth platforms. Mr. Rubenstein formerly led Alcan's global pharmaceutical packaging sector, a multi-material packaging solutions provider to the world's leading pharmaceutical and medical companies.

Mr. Rubenstein has held several senior management positions in the packaging industry. His 30 years of experience is complemented with studies in printing technology at the Rochester Institute of Technology (Rochester, NY) and an immersion in world class partnerships at Duke University (Durham, NC). He holds a Master of Business Administration degree and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Concordia University in Montreal. He is based in Kirkland, Quebec.

Alcan Packaging is a world leader in value-added specialty packaging. It delivers multi-material innovative solutions to customers around the world for the food, pharmaceutical, beauty and tobacco markets.  Led by Ilene Gordon, president and CEO, Alcan Packaging is headquartered in Paris, France.
