| Alcan completed the sale of selected assets of its North American Packaging Plastic Bottle business to Ball Corporation for US$180 million.
Alcan previously announced the sale agreement on February 27, 2005, and first announced that it was exploring this transaction on July 8, 2005. The transaction includes plants in Batavia, Illinois; Bellevue, Ohio; and Brampton, Ontario; as well as other food bottles business assets in Newark, California and Neenah, Wisconsin.
The business, which employs approximately 470 people, primarily serves customers in the food industry. The sale does not include Alcan Packaging’s pharmaceutical plastic bottle operations.
