Dick Evans, Alcan’s President and Chief Executive Officer, congratulated Thomas Bouraoui, a Continuous Improvement Black Belt in Alcan Packaging Food Americas, on being named one of four Nathanael V. Davis (NVD) Award winners on June 8. This is Alcan’s most prestigious award for employee excellence and innovation, recognizing exceptional contribution.

Thomas Bouraoui' s "Laceration Best Practices" program has resulted in virtually eliminating cuts and lacerations from hand-held cutting devices, the No. 1 cause of recordable injuries in packaging. By developing and implementing this comprehensive program, Thomas has empowered employees to work more safely every day. This approach, which has been praised by leading knife manufacturers, stands to revolutionize knife safety at Alcan and in other industries around the world. Thomas’ dedicated work is the epitome of Best Practice sharing and a vital tool in our EHS First goal of zero incidents.

The awards are named for Nathanael Vining Davis (1915-2005), President and CEO of Alcan from 1947 to 1979 and Chairman from 1972 to 1986. Under his leadership, Alcan evolved into one of the world’s first multinational companies. A man of vision and integrity, he was a passionate advocate of employee empowerment who recognized that Alcan’s success was – and always would be – a reflection of its employees’ achievements.
